Word on the Street

Liz Ho,

owner of birdhouse bakeshop,

found literary representation and is currently writing her first cookbook for Penguin Canada

I was afraid of investing in something that I felt (in the beginning, when I had no idea how much work actually went into it) I could do myself. Also, I thought "maybe I can do this faster on my own".

A first proposal is difficult to navigate, and it's so easy to get lost or off track. Amanda paved a path for me and helped shape and create clarity in my story, thoughts, and ideas in a way that I don't think I could have done alone.

Amanda really got to know me; she understood my story, my personality, and what is meaningful to me. She always made me feel supported, validated, empowered, cared for.

Jannell Lo,

chef, food stylist & creator of My BF is GF,

currently writing her first cookbook for Appetite by Random house

Working with Amanda has kept me focused and on track. I have a clearer understanding of my writing voice and book concept through exercises that were provided at the beginning.

I knew nothing about the proposal and pitching process beforehand, and it was incredibly valuable to have guidance and additional resources (books, podcasts, writing tools etc.) to help me set specific goals and intentions.

I could not have asked for a sweeter or more supportive book coach. I'm so happy to have found Amanda!

One of my favorite things about working with Amanda is her PASSION. She dives wholeheartedly into every endeavor she works on, and she has given me incredible advice and motivation for moving forward past my comfort zone into the creative woman and identity I know I AM. She has affirmed me in ways I will always be grateful for, and encouraged me to claim territory in my own creative niche. I know without a doubt she will bless you like she has blessed me!

Along with her professional qualifications, Amanda is a fun person to work with. She is an energized, focused powerhouse — always bringing creative ideas to the table.

Amanda is the perfect blend of creative, enthusiastic, and savvy. She's incredible at making ideas realities, which is an invaluable skill. Amanda is the definition of a "go-getter.," and not just for herself, but for her clients, co-workers, and friends.

(After working with Amanda), I have been more disciplined as a writer and have become better at developing storylines that are more rich and full.

Your personal experience and knowledge enables you to be flexible in meeting any potential client’s needs. Strong attributes I witnessed from you: strategic thinking, flexibility, comfortable with ambiguity, and collaborative.

I would absolutely recommend your services for any writers needing the kick start to get a project going, or to help develop and breakdown their ideas.

The exercises early on were very helpful in many ways, mostly to inspire more direction to the story or what story comes next.

And it always feels so good to have someone on your side and on your team! Someone that you feel safe unfolding these very personal details with. Your heart, empathy, and willingness to listen without any judgement was an amazing comfort, motivation, and oh so encouraging.
